Resources
Research and Documentation are the cornerstones of arts and sciences in the SCA.
Research is the tool that allows you to create something that could have reasonably existed in a specific time and place, while documentation is writing down a synthesis of your research, and an explanation what you did, how you did it, and why.

There are many resources available for you to use when researching and documenting a project.  From museums, to your local library. to online articles, books, and databases, you don’t have to look far for inspiration.  Many a project has started as an offshoot of researching a different one…and many artisans have found themselves lost is a new rabbit hole.  You will find that some subjects have a vast amount of research available, while others seem have barely been touched.  Sometimes everything seems to fall into place, and other times, its like pulling teeth.  The important thing to remember is that you are not alone.  If you are stuck, reach out to others in the community.  Sometimes just talking to someone about a project helps to solve a problem, and if not, then others can point you towards other resources. You can reach out on our Facebook group or at events ask one of our Laurels or any of our A&S officers.
